Privacy notice

By logging into the Data and Digital Professions Members' Community, I agree to my personal information being collected to allow my participation in the Data Profession and/or Digital Profession.

The Data Profession is administered by the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS). The Digital Profession is administered by the Australian Public Service Commission (APSC). The ABS and the APSC have obligations under the Privacy Act 1988 and will only use and disclose information collected from me for the purpose of administering the Data and Digital Professions. Deidentified data may be provided to employing agencies for the purposes for workforce planning and high-level skill gap analysis.

I understand that I can restrict other members from viewing my personal information using the privacy settings (under Profile). I also understand that Administrators will be able to view my personal information regardless of which privacy settings I choose. I understand that my contributions will be visible to other community of practice members via Members’ Community and via the daily or weekly digest emails.

 

I understand that if I register for events through this Members’ Community, I may be asked to provide consent for my personal information to be provided to third parties (i.e. event organisers).

 

I understand that if I do not provide my personal information, or if I provide false or misleading information, I may not be eligible for membership of the Data and/or Digital Professions.

The Data and Digital Professions platform provider, Higher Logic, is based in the USA. Higher Logic will store information on its USA-based servers until an Australian-based server becomes available. Higher Logic will not have access to your personal information without your consent. Higher Logic’s Privacy Policy is available here. Why we collect your information

Email
Your email is the primary point of contact for the Data and Digital Professions teams. You will receive community updates, Data and/or Digital Professions updates/newsletters, important system emails, and other communications relevant to your Profession. You may use your work or personal email address to sign up for the Data and/or Digital Professions, as we confirm your eligibility with your agency/department and employment status.

Name
This helps us identify you in the communities and personalise our communication with you.

Job title
Your job title helps us identify your needs and serve more personalised content to you. We may also de-identify this data and use it to report on the how roles are titled across the government. 

Agency and department
This is used to confirm you are employed by an eligible agency or department. Currently only employees of Commonwealth, State and Local Government agencies and departments are eligible to join the Data and Digital Professions. This information will also be de-identified and used for reporting purposes.

Employment status
This is used to confirm your eligibility, as currently only employees of Commonwealth, State/Territory and Local Government agencies, departments or businesses, are eligible to join the Data and Digital Professions. If the eligibility criteria expands in the future, this information may be de-identified and used for reporting purposes. 

Career Stage
Your selected career stage will be used to serve you content, opportunities and events that best suit where you are in your journey. We may also de-identify this data to use for reporting purposes.

Interested in
Your interests help us refine the content served to you, ensuring your experience on the members’ community site is personalised to you. We may also de-identify this data to use for reporting purposes.

Gender
This information is de-identified then used for reporting purposes, especially around gender balance in data and digital roles.

Skills via skills self-assessment
This information is primarily for your information. Your skills list can help increase visibility of your skills and help to identify skill gaps, which you can use to support learning and development requests. De-identified data may be provided to employing agencies for the purposes for workforce planning and high-level skill gap analysis.
