Social Media Benchmarking Project

  • 1.  Social Media Benchmarking Project

    Posted 22-03-2023 09:43 AM

Okay Tess and I are happy to lead this. What we need to know is - who is willing to share their social media data - and what would we like to benchmark?

    •           Engagement rate
    •           Impressions
    •           Post frequency
    •          Content makeup (image posts/link posts/videos/reels etc.)

    Hi Tim,

DITRDCA is happy to share our data for this project, and I'm also keen to help out if needed!

Apart from the points you mentioned above, I'd also like to get a sense of Follower/Fan growth, perhaps on a monthly basis. That would be really useful.

    Thanks!

Agreed- would like to see fan/follower growth as well as CTR.

In the meantime, I have set up in Hootsuite, a government industry benchmark (this develops a benchmark of all government accounts globally) as well as competitive benchmarks (currently been using this for Twitter, but this apparently will work for Meta) in the Analytics section. I've been using this for our reporting- unfortunately it doesn't work for LinkedIn but you can directly setup competitors in LinkedIn Analytics. We have also set up competitors' benchmarks against other government agencies that on the same platforms and have the similar topics and audiences to us.

I think most SMM apps have this ability, so worth checking yours if you haven't already while this project is underway.

    Hi Tim,

Happy to share AMSA's metrics too.

I would also like to get a sense of link clicks and CTR, video watch time.

    Thanks

Hi @Jason Kempen, thanks for your interest to get involved with this :)

Chiming in for Tim as he's currently on leave but will be back next week.

Below are the action items that Tim sent out from the 11 May meeting that a few of us joined in:
    Actions out of the meeting

    • Tim will work with Tess to develop a template to send to everyone in GovSocial
    • Tim will send out email with template requesting social media data mid-July a long with explanation on how it will be used
    • Tim will collate the data in early August
    • Kelly-Ann will help Tess & Tim use Looker Studio to visualise the data
    • Once we have the data – we will work on a presentation on trends/insights for the 3rd GovSocial meeting – August 23.

Tim will be picking this back up once he returns next week :) Hope that helps!
    Cheers,
    Michelle
