Hey everyone - I think this latest report on social media trends in Australia for 2023 is super interesting:

Digital 2023 Australia: 1 in 3 Australians use social networks for brand research - We Are Social Australia

    Some very interesting data.

    Hi Tim,

Our social media benchmarks at AMSA are always based on historical performance but I would love, LOVE if we could pull together an industry benchmark specific to Aus Gov that would help give an indication of our weakness and strengths. Is this something we could pull together and report back in either monthly/quartlerly? I know some of the platforms provide metrics on how the industry is going but I don't know if I trust it...

    Hi Kelly-Ann,

That is a great idea and something that I would definitely find useful as well. This might be a little mini-project that our community of practice could work on - I'll mention it in our first catch-up and see who would be interested in being involved and investigating if this is something we could pull together.

    Hi folks,

I've had a chat with my team and I've gotten the green light to put my hand up to do the data analysis if we wanted to go ahead with this. I'm a bit of a data whiz (and a fiend with a spreadsheet) and could deliver some great analysis. Of course this would need to be managed around my other work, but I could dedicate a couple of hours a week to it.

However, I don't think it's worth it to take on the work unless we can get at least 10 bodies to provide data, so it would be great to get an idea of numbers. Also, there's obviously the hoops that need to be jumped through with sharing data, so even if there's a willingness to participate, that might be hampered by organisational policies or decisions.

Keen to chat about this next week, but wanted to indicate my willingness to make this happen.

    Cheers,

    Tess

Hi Tess - I'm happy to join you on this project - I'll mention it on our meeting and Wednesday and see who else would like to join us. We can also ask who would be willing to share some of their data.

Hi Kelly, we are in the same boat but have done our own analysis across our Defence owned accounts and created a benchmarking document for ourselves as we find different themed content receive different engagement numbers and is often a not a one-size-fits-all approach. But keen to see what is created through this forum.

I hear ya Rosemarie - I always dread the "how does my campaign content perform against other content" question!

Hi Tim, that Digital 2023: Australia data is very interesting.  I'm trying to find where they source their data from, but can't seem to find the definitive source.  Just wondering if you've had a look behind it and know where it's sourced?
