Join an APS Profession

The APS Professions is a comprehensive capability building initiative aimed at enhancing specialist skills and expertise across the APS by establishing communities, promoting best practice, and providing targeted training and development. Since it began in 2019, the APS Professions has shaped the capabilities and effectiveness of the APS by fostering innovation and empowering our people to lead in a fast-changing-world. This initiative, designed to attract, develop, retain and deploy specialised expertise across critical capability groups has significantly bolstered the APS workforce.

Complex Project Management Profession

Enhance complex project management capabilities to transform how the APS successfully delivers complex projects across government.

Data Profession

Lift the data skills of the APS to inform better decision-making in policy development, program management and service delivery.

Digital Profession

Raise the digital expertise of the APS to transform how the APS designs and delivers secure and trusted government products and services.

Evaluation Profession

Increase evaluation skills within the APS to inform policy design, decision-making and implementation.

HR Profession

Improve strategic HR capability to ensure the APS has the right people with the right skills now and into the future.

Procurement and Contract Management Profession

Strengthen the procurement and contract management expertise of the APS to reshape how it tackles the complexities of modern governance.
