APS employment frameworks

APS employment frameworks provide clear guidance on the skills, capabilities and behaviours expected at each APS classification. These frameworks, including the Integrated Leadership System (ILS), are invaluable tools for navigating career development, understanding role expectations or identifying areas for growth. These resources are designed to help you align your expertise with the broader goals of the APS and thrive in your professional journey.

Integrated Leadership System

The ILS provides capability development guidance for individuals and agencies, including providing descriptions and behaviours for all APS levels. It contains practical tools for individuals and agencies to chart leadership development.

As part of the ILS you can access self-assessment forms, individual profiles for each APS level from EL1 to SES Band 3 and other support tools. Check out the ILS APS guide for more information.
